Who we are
Standpoint ("we," "us," "our") is an independent legal analysis service operated by Standpoint Legal, LLC, 200 South Andrews Avenue, Suite 604, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to the services you purchase through it.
Definitions
"Personal information" means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you, such as your name, contact details, and payment information. "Case documents" means the files you upload or provide for your analysis, such as discovery, probable cause affidavits, police reports, court filings, plea offers, and correspondence. "Sensitive information" means information in your case documents or intake responses that receives heightened protection, described below.
Information we collect
We collect: (1) information you give us at intake, including your name, email, phone number, case type, county, case number, the names of your current attorney and opposing parties, and what you tell us about your concerns; (2) the case documents you upload; (3) payment information processed by our payment processor (we do not store your full card number); (4) scheduling information when you book a consultation; and (5) limited technical information generated by using the site, such as device type and pages visited, used to keep the site working and secure.
Sensitive information in your documents
Police reports, discovery, and other case documents often contain sensitive personal information, including addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and other details protected under privacy law, and may contain information about people other than you. We treat everything in your case documents as confidential. It is used solely to conduct your independent legal analysis and for no other purpose. We never sell it, never use it for marketing, and never disclose it except as described in "When information is shared" below.
How we use your information
We use your information to: deliver the service you purchased, including reviewing your documents and preparing your written analysis; run the conflict check required before an attorney reviews your case; communicate with you about your analysis, your consultation, and your account; process payment; maintain the security of the site and our systems; and meet legal, regulatory, and professional obligations that apply to a legal services business.
Attorney review and analysis tools
Your analysis is performed by a licensed Florida criminal defense trial attorney. In preparing it, we may use secure professional research and document-analysis tools, operating under confidentiality protections, to assist the attorney's review. Every analysis is the reviewing attorney's own work product and conclusions. No tool output is provided to you without attorney review.
When information is shared
We do not sell your personal information, ever, and we do not share it for advertising. We disclose information only: (1) to service providers who help us operate, such as our payment processor, secure hosting and storage, scheduling, client-management systems, and the professional tools described above, each limited to what they need to perform their function and bound to confidentiality; (2) within Standpoint Legal, LLC to the people working on your matter; (3) if required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud or a security threat, and where the law allows we will tell you before disclosing; and (4) with your direction or consent. Your case documents are never made public and never provided to your current attorney, opposing parties, or any court by us.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment processor. Your card details go directly to the processor over an encrypted connection; we receive confirmation of payment, the amount, and a transaction reference, not your full card number.
How long we keep information
We keep intake information, case documents, and your written analysis for as long as needed to deliver the service and to meet the record-keeping obligations that apply to legal services, and then for a reasonable period afterward for legal and professional protection. You may request deletion as described under "Your choices," and we will honor it except where retention is required by law or professional obligation.
How we protect information
Case documents are stored in access-controlled, encrypted storage that is not publicly reachable. Access is limited to the people working on your matter. Connections to the site are encrypted. We log administrative access to client files. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but protecting your file is a professional obligation we take as seriously as the analysis itself.
Your choices
You may ask us to: show you the personal information we hold about you; correct it; delete it, subject to the retention obligations above; or stop non-essential communications at any time. Make any request using the contact details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
Cookies and technical data
The site uses only the technical storage necessary for it to function, such as keeping your intake progress on your device while you complete it. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
Children
This service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Communications
We will contact you about your analysis and your account. Any marketing communication will include a way to opt out, and opting out never affects the service you purchased.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the version and effective date on this page. Material changes will be flagged prominently, and continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Clients are asked to acknowledge the current policy at intake.
