About

Why We Built Standpoint.

Standpoint exists because people with an active criminal case often cannot tell whether it is being handled well, and asking that question feels awkward. Independent analysis by a licensed Florida criminal defense trial attorney answers it without disrupting the relationship you already have.

Serving criminal cases throughout the state of Florida.

The service is deliberately limited in scope. You get a read on your file and a set of questions to raise, described step by step on How It Works.

Eric H. Clayman, Florida criminal defense trial attorney

The Reviewing Attorney

Eric H. Clayman

Eric H. Clayman has spent his career on every side of a criminal case.

Before law school, he was a certified police officer in Hamtramck, Michigan, where he worked as a DUI investigator and a narcotics investigator, handled street crimes and auto theft investigations, and served high-risk felony warrants. He has written the reports, made the stops, and built the cases that end up in a defendant's file.

He began his legal career as a Certified Legal Intern at the Broward County State Attorney's Office, learning firsthand how prosecutors charge and pursue criminal cases. On the defense side, he served in the Broward County Public Defender's Office and the Office of the Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel for the Fourth District, where he handled two felony courtrooms, Drug Court, and the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence and Mental Health Courts.

Today he is a Florida criminal defense trial attorney practicing in both state and federal court, representing clients on everything from second-degree misdemeanors to capital offenses.

That both-sides background is the reason this service works. When Eric reads your file, he is reading documents he has spent his career writing, prosecuting, and taking apart. He knows what a properly built case looks like, what a properly defended case looks like, and what it looks like when something is missing.
